| I went to a counsellor just a few days ago and I can honestly say I wasn't nervous...a lot. Maybe it was because of the dozens of times I've practiced how the session would unravel in my head or the simple fact that I was talking to a non-judgmental figure and I was desperate to just talk, but I wasn't really nervous. She herself said I didn't look nervous. My cheeks didn't flare, I didn't feel a burning sensation within my skull, I didn't stammer. I just talked. I told her stuff that I hadn't told anyone before. Hell, by the end of it, she probably knew more about me than anyone else ever did and I even told her that. I'd recommend that anyone in desperation of someone to talk to should go to a counsellor. It's good just to have some non-judgmental acknowledgement. | |

I can't make myself to try counselling. I become nervous just thinking that I might do that. |

| I've been afraid to go to counseling for a long time, but after reading that post I don't feel so nervous anymore. Thank you :) | |

I've had three. In The UK under 16s don't pay, so thats good. it does help some people, others it doesn't. I did feel awfully nervous though & wasn't able to express my feelings proper |

| I talked to school counselors then I started seeing a therapist. The school counselors were nice, very nonjudgemental, but the therapist acts like a mom. I mean like very superior, treats me like a little kid who doesn't understand ... I dnnno. It can get rather annoying, especially since my dad is paying her.. | |

| Even with a therapist it took 3 sessions before I opened up a little. I had to adapt to his personality and to the method of therapy. But I recommend it to everyone. It's good to talk to someone objective because sometimes you can loose yourself in the negative spiral of your thoughts. And they can help you to really put things in perspective and give you more confidence. It helped with me anyway... | |
